SPRING 2010 ANNOUNCEMENT

We are proud to announce that we are bringing our successful model of youth lacrosse programming to Texas.  Our progressive system of Player Development has been successful in some of the top programs in the Northeast and New England.  In the spring of 2010, we will debut teams at the Championship/Competitive level in Plano.

OUR SUCCESSFUL FORMULA:

GAMES-BASED APPROACH
- Athletes of all ages get the highest level of enjoyment, motivation, and reward from "game-like" activities.  Our practices will be focused on skills and situations that are most common in the sport of lacrosse.  While we strongly believe that solid fundamentals are a must for all players, we feel it is imperative for players to know the WHY of WHAT they are doing, not just what to do.  We achieve this through exciting practices that consistently use game-like situations and drills.  Our practices are not "scripted" so that players aren't able to have a mind of their own.  Claddagh Lacrosse players are constantly developing their Lacrosse I.Q. and given the tools necessary for them to make the right decisions at the right times on the field.

PROGRESSIVE SKILL CURRICULUM
- Over the course of several years, we have designed and refined our program to identify and include an ideal progression of skills from novice to intermediate to advanced.  Every step is foundational to the next, and terminology is simple and understandable.  We don't teach "gimmick" tactics that will work for a player in youth lacrosse but not enable them to get by once they reach the high school level.  Every skill in our practice plans is essential to a player's growth and success.  We give players the base of knowledge and skills they can use to commit to the sport to any extent they choose down the road.  The skills we teach are the same skills that coaches top national high school and college programs demand that their players execute properly 90-100% of the time.

POSITIVE COACHING ENVIRONMENT AND APPROACH
- Our coaches have given nearly as much attention to their coaching and leadership tactics as lacrosse strategy.  We know how to motivate players to enjoying the sport the most they can and progressing to the best student-athletes, teammates, and citizens they can be.  Claddagh Lacrosse has had the benefit of a close relationship with resources like the Institute for Athletic Coach Education at Boston University, one of the preeminent institutions in coaching research and development.  In our program, the focus is on the team and the players, not the coaches themselves.  We stand shoulder to shoulder to be the best we can be, together as a team and not as individuals.
