NOLAN GODFREY
Head Select Team Coach
Skill Development Director

Nolan Godfrey is the Co-Founder of Claddagh Lacrosse.  Godfrey comes to Claddagh on the heels of a playing and coaching career in North America and Europe. Before relocating to Texas, he came most recently from Billerica High School in Massachusetts, where he helped lead the boys’ lacrosse team to the Division 1 state final in 2008.  He has gone to great lengths to hone his coaching skills, with graduate work for a Master's in Coaching and Sport Psychology from the presitgious Boston University and its nationally-recognized Institute for Athletic Coach Education.

Godfrey was an NCAA All-American midfielder and faceoff specialist at Merrimack College, leading the Warriors to the Northeast-10 Conference championship game his final year. He also collected all-academic, first team all-conference, and all-New England honors. He led the nation in ground balls and was second nationally in faceoff wins in his last campaign.

Following a stellar collegiate career, Godfrey broke into the professional ranks when selected in the National Lacrosse League entry draft by the Buffalo Bandits. He was later a first-round selection of the world champion Philadelphia Barrage in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) supplemental draft. He also has experience in the Boston Cannons organization of MLL.

Having a preference for indoor box lacrosse, Godfrey has played three seasons in Canada, most recently at the Senior-A level for the Nanaimo Timbermen of the Western Lacrosse Association in British Columbia. He was named to the Team USA indoor developmental team in 2008 and competed at the Warriors Cup in Ontario.

In addition to operating two national lacrosse camp companies, Godfrey has toured Europe, coaching the last two summers in Spain, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Scotland, and Finland. His other coaching appointments include work as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College (NCAA Division II) and founding two Massachusetts high school programs, at Central Catholic High School and Haverhill High School.  He was also previously the head coach and College Athletics Recruiting Liaison at St. Andrew's School in Austin, TX, and then the head coach at Plano Senior High School in TX.
